MINI JCW x Deus Ex Machina: Two icons. Two cars. One obsession.

MINI JCW x Deus Ex Machina: Two icons. Two cars. One obsession.

When MINI John Cooper Works meets lifestyle powerhouse Deus Ex Machina, the result is nothing short of extraordinary. Together, the brands have created two exclusive one-off JCW models – rolling pieces of art that blend motorsport heritage with a bold spirit of customisation. Built with craftsmanship, culture, and creativity at their core, the cars embody a shared love of speed, design, and individuality.

The partnership represents more than just a design exercise – it’s an attitude. “MINI models have always been defined by a blend of creativity and racing DNA,” says Stefan Richmann, Head of MINI. “With Deus Ex Machina, we’re pushing that philosophy further – setting new trends and connecting with enthusiasts who value passion, innovation and authentic community.” Both cars feature a white “X” across their roofs, symbolising the collaboration – MINI JCW x DEUS.

Two cars, two personalities: The Skeg and The Machina. The Skeg is an all-electric JCW inspired by surf culture – sleek, minimalist, and light. Its vivid yellow and silver bodywork, translucent fiberglass panels, and surfboard-inspired Flex Tip Spoiler channel the energy of the ocean into pure automotive design. Inside, wetsuit trays, neoprene bucket seats and stripped-back analogue controls create the vibe of a mobile surf shop on wheels.

The Machina, by contrast, is pure motorsport attitude. A combustion-powered JCW finished in red, white and black, it’s aggressive, low, and track-ready. Widened fenders, rally-style bonnet lights, and a Can-Am-inspired rear spoiler nod to MINI’s racing heritage, while raw aluminium flooring, exposed roll cage, and hydraulic handbrake keep things brutally functional inside. Every detail screams purpose – a tribute to MINI’s racing DNA and Deus’ workshop craft.

Design mastermind Matt Willey, working alongside Deus Creative Director Carby Tuckwell, gave the cars their striking livery – a continuation of their collaboration that began with a historic Mini Cooper S rally car design in 2023. Their graphics draw inspiration from classic motorsport liveries, celebrating MINI’s Monte Carlo Rally victories and timeless racing iconography.

But the collaboration doesn’t stop at cars. A capsule MINI x Deus apparel collection will debut at IAA Mobility 2025 in Munich, dropping September 8. With precision tailoring, premium materials, and Deus’ trademark storytelling through design, the collection bridges motorsport and lifestyle in true MINI fashion. Visitors to the MINI Pavilion can experience both cars in person at the MINI JCW x DEUS Night on September 6 – the beginning of a new chapter where performance meets culture, and where the motto says it all: “You can be first after me.”
